This system has our largest but thinest eutectic tank and suits properly insulated refrigerator cabinets up to 300* litres or freezers up to 120* litres. (*With cabinet air circulation & extra power of condenser water cooling) 

Ideal for adding to a cabinet that has an existing boat motor driven system for additional, yet separate, refrigeration that can operate from any 12 / 24 volt DC battery and 110 / 240 volt AC power. Also suits narrower cabinets where space is an issue

Power consumption while running on 12.5 volt DC supply is 4.1 to 5.3 amps / hr.

Approximate system run time per cycle is 3.1 hours.  (To refrigerate through phase change while maintaining cabinet temperature).

Package Four.. Model  C450/ Twin

 The twin eutectic tank system suits freezers larger than 100 litre and for fridge / freezer combination cabinets. (See diagrams below left)

Each system package has one C450 (or C480) refrigeration unit coupled to your choice of either twin T32-26, T45-30 or T50-40 eutectic tanks.

A small circulation fan evens out freezer temperature.

The twin tank system refrigerates both sides of the freezer cabinet providing more refrigeration where needed.

 

Twin tank systems are ideal for twin compartments:  (Adjacent fridge / freezer). The twin eutectic tanks are installed opposite each other in the freezer compartment. In the adjacent refrigerator compartment, a thermostat controlled fan pushes air through a hole in the dividing wall into a stainless steel duct, located on the freezer side of the dividing wall. Air travels along inside this duct and back out into the refrigerator area providing cooling for the refrigerator side without mixing the refrigerator and freezer air..

This is a popular system for those building a new cabinet or renovating.

Not only does the one Ozefridge C450 unit provide adequate refrigeration for the freezer, but also refrigerates the adjacent refrigerator cabinet.

The C450's digital controller maintains the freezer cabinet while the thermostat controlled fan, located on the refrigerator side of the dividing wall, forces air circulation until the fridge thermostat is satisfied and the fridge compartment cooled.

This Ozefridge option isolates the refrigerator and freezer air vastly reducing the frost build-up on the eutectic tanks and dehydration of fridge products.

This method has great flexibility as the freezer compartment can be operated as refrigerator or freezer alone, both compartments as refrigerators or as a freezer and refrigerator combination.

Twin Plate system packages should be water cooled using the optional P3 Micro- pump to circulate fresh water from the boats water tank.

Option One: P3 Micro-Pump Kit:

 

 

 

Item Name:  P3 Centrifugal Pump & 10 mt. of hose    (Nominate 12 or 24 volt)

 

All Ozefridge C450 and C480 systems are equipped with both air and water cooled condensers

For more powerful and more efficient operation, the Ozefridge system can be operated as a water cooled unit by simply adding a recycling fresh water supply.

The C450 and C480 units are pre-wired and plumbed ready for the addition of the optional P3 pump if  required.

Using water cooling on 40ºc days can increase cooling capacity up to 60% We only recommend cycling fresh water from the boats water tank for this purpose. The water is recycled, not harmed and the corrosion, fouling and electrolysis problems associated with salt water are eliminated.

A switch on the front of the C450 / C480 allows the automatic pumps operation to be switched off in cooler month. If using water cooling and the water supply fails then the system will continue to function as an air cooled unit albeit less efficiently.

The P3 pump only uses 5 watts (Less that 1/2 an amp!) and reduces compressor consumption by much more.


(The water recycling is at the rate of approximately 1 litre per minute and causes no harm to the water.
Ozefridge totally opposes using sea water cooling for any DC refrigeration systems, specially when there is a safer alternative.)

Option Two: Thermo-fan & SS Duct kit:

Item Name: Thermo-fan and SS duct kit
 

The thermo-fan is located high on the refrigerator side of a wall dividing the refrigerator and freezer compartments. Air is drawn into the thermo-fan unit from the refrigerator compartment and forced out the rear through a 75mm hole in the dividing wall and into the horizontal stainless steel duct adjacently located on the the freezer compartment side of the divider. The cooling air travels horizontally along this heat exchanging duct and returns to the refrigerator via another 75mm hole in the dividing wall. When the refrigerator cabinet has cooled to the thermostat setting, the fan stops. (See sketch above)  Keeping the refrigerator air separate from the freezer air greatly reduces frost build-up on the eutectic tanks.

With two compartments refrigerated this way provides the option of operating as fridge and freezer, both as fridge or one compartment only as a freezer or as a fridge.

The fan operates from 12 VDC and consumes approximately 1.3 watts (1/8th of an amp!)

Option Three: Cabinet Circulation Fan:

Item Name: Cabinet Circulation Fan

The cabinet circulation fan is 125mm x 80 x 40 and with mounting lugs. Ideal for fridge or freezer cabinet circulation if stratification is a problem. (Specially in tall or long cabinets)

As with the thermo-fan, the cabinet circulation fan can be supplied with power via the spare wire pair fitted standard inside the refrigeration hose pipe line.

The fan operates from 12 VDC and consumes approximately 1.3 watts (1/8th of an amp!)

Option Four: C480 with Danfoss BD80 compressor in lieu of the C450

 

Item Name:   Refrigeration Condensing Unit:  Model C480 as an option. (In lieu of model C450)

 

The Ozefridge C480 uses the powerful Danfoss BD80 compressor located in the same stainless steel cabinet as the C450 and with all the same dimensions.

The Danfoss BD80 has 89.6% greater output than the Danfoss *BD35 (*as used by makers of imported systems, but not Ozefridge!) and 44% more than the BD50, and yet provides even more powerful refrigeration when used in the C480 with the added benefit of the Ozefridge's standard water cooled condensing.

Ideal for larger cabinets, combination fridge / freezers and commercial applications.

 

The C480 must be used with the P3 water pump cooling the inbuilt water condenser.
 

While the C450 operates from 12 or 24 VDC and 110 or 240 VAC., the C480 only operates from 12 or 24 VDC.

To power from a 110 or 240 volt supply, the C480 system continues to operate from the battery power and the batteries are topped up via a separate battery charger.

Option Five: ECO-SS Energy Conversion Optimizer

Smart start and power supply management unit

 

Why and How:  Refrigeration systems consume electrical energy (power supply) converting it into thermal energy. (to make your cabinet cold)

 

There are two distinct groups of electrical power available to supply your fridge system:

       (A) Abundant Power (Mode A) is whenever a 110 or 240 volt AC mains or generated supply is available OR when the 12V DC power supply

            is fed from an alternator, solar, etc. and the voltage exceeds 13.5V. (Excess power after the batteries are topped up, energy that would

            otherwise be wasted)

       (B) Limited Power (Mode L) is when a power supply is from a battery source only.

 

The ECO-SS system is a unique Ozefridge device that reduces battery demand by operation as follows:

 

1.)  Whenever power supply is abundant, (Mode A), the ECO-SS automatically triggers the system's controller into run mode, starting the ozefridge

      system, forcing it to consume, convert and store the abundant electrical energy into the eutectic tank as thermal energy for future use.

2.)  When engaged, the ECO-SS also operates the ozefridge system at maximum compressor speed to provide the most refrigeration into eutectic

      storage while the power supply is abundant.  

3.)  When ECO-SS takes control, the eutectic mass is maintained in a frozen state within the lower temperature parameters of the 'Sure-Thaw"

     controller's settings.

4.) During normal operations, the ECO-SS checks constantly for the availability of abundant power. this ensures that any abundant power is always

     detected and utilized.

5.) Whenever only limited power (Mode L) is available, the frozen eutectic mass will hold-over the cabinet temperature for up to a day or so and if no

    further opportunity to use abundant power occurs in the meantime, the system automatically reverts to using the limited power supply as further

    refrigeration is required.

 

Examples of how this exclusive Ozefridge option can spare your batteries:

 

Example 1: Bill sails his yacht mostly at weekends and when at sea battery power is at a premium. During the week, Bill's yacht is in the pen connected to 240 volts mains power so he leaves everything in the fridge and it runs automatically on the mains ready for the next outing. While bill runs a small gen-set at night for an hour or so and on occasions he is under motor.

 

    Outcomes with a basic aluminum cold plate system:

    If Bill installs an air-cooled cyclic cold plate system, his fridge will run on average say 10 minutes on and 20 minutes off. Without the backup of 

    water cooling, the run times will increase and efficiency will decrease as temperature rises during the hotter months. (Just when I needed you

    most!). This type of cyclic refrigeration requires power on demand throughout the 24-hour relying mostly on the batteries limited power supply and

    using little of any abundant power when available. This is the most inefficient system with the greatest demand on batteries).

 

    Outcomes with Ozefridge Eutectic System:

    If Bill installs an Ozefridge eutectic system with air and water cooling, 12/24 Volt & 110/240 AC operation and the ECO-SS option, he will enjoy

    all the benefits of eutectic refrigeration and have the most comprehensive power management, control, and failsafe system available.

  

    When Bill sails out from the pen, his eutectic tank will be frozen solid with no further refrigeration needed until the eutectic mass is consumed. 

    Now at sea, the solar panel has topped up the battery yet there is still plenty of sun and therefore abundant energy available. As the battery volts

    exceeds 13.5 volts, the ECO-SS will cause the ozefridge to run and store more energy in the eutectic tank. Later at night Bill runs the 240 volt

    generator for an hour or so and again the ECO-SS trips in and unlike other systems will choose to run direct from the gen-set's 240 volts leaving

    any charge into the battery to be a net again.

    With the ozefridge ECO-SS power management and STC control; this system would require little if any power from the limited battery supply.

    

 

Example 2: Fred is cruising and relies on solar and a Honda 1KVA generator to recharge his battery bank.

 

    Outcomes with the ozefridge eutectic system:

    Fred has found that his refrigeration is cold enough if his Ozefridge eutectic system has one freeze per day involving about 4 hours of total

    running during the 24 hour period. Often Fred's batteries are fully charged yet there is still plenty of wind or solar power, power that would

    otherwise be wasted, but the ECO-SS is causing the ozefridge to store this as thermal energy. at night, if gen-set is used, the Ozefridge will be

    at it again, storing energy (refrigeration in advance) and sparing precious battery supply. Fred's system rarely uses power from his battery supply

    and when in the marina the Ozefridge will run on the mains power from any country. Whenever a 110 or 240 VAC supply is available, the system

    automatically runs from the highest voltage available.

       Power consumption estimates are for top opening cabinets with typical use during Australian summer conditions. Expect less at other times.  

      

       BELOW RIGHT:  These charts indicate the suggested Ozefridge package to suit the various cabinet uses, sizes and insulation thickness.

       Those with a W indicate water cooling is recommended, while *4W indicates optional C480 (with BD80 compressor) and water cooling is essential.
